One of the most innovative and exciting producers in music today, Phillip “Winta” James was born in Eastern Jamaica and starting learning the piano at an early age. After playing with the Ruption Kru band he was called by Damian “Junior Gong” Marley in 2007 and was asked to join his band.
His distinct drums and bass driven production style, coupled with the deep grooves that they generate means his productions are easy to spot in a crowded marketplace. His influences range from 80’s reggae and dancehall to less obvious Jazz and classical. His credits to date include Damian “Junior Gong” Marley, Chronixx, Protoje, Sevana, Ady Suleiman and Kiko Bun.
